Take a bigger size to have more time to find the reason why you had to stop your bike in the dark :-)
Zwillingspeter allways used 9 Ah size in his Ural, because he said: if everythink works, it works....

36Ah is NOT too much.

Just my experience.

What is your goal? 80 AH? Therefore, i have no experience

You can´t have enough Ah.......

Its just a matter of space and weight!

Worth to be checked...have a look at this one:

if its to big...stay on this brand!

but a huge batterie might not been filled by a small generator, maybe you have to charge sometimes.

Depends on what (physical) size you wanna have. Both Motobatt and Odyssey have sizes that fit in the original space of a motorcycle and that will give enough Amps. If it should go or has to go in the chair, any car battery would be sufficient. (Not knowing what your charging capacity is).

MotoBatt is the answer if it should fit into an original battery rack. If you've got plenty of space take a car battery. It's much cheaper and easyer to replace.

To answer your question about how many AHs: After I put a 36 AH car battery into Martina's BMW combo al former problems were gone. It was a R65 with a 20A generator and I replaced tail lights and indicators with LED ones. I mounted the battery between bike and sidecar inside a plastic battery box for motorboats.

With your much more modern triumph generator it shold be possible to run a car battery up to between 50 and 60 AH if you have the space for it.

Thanks for your replies gentlemen, im after a car battery, i've had a motoBatt and an Oddessy in the past, the battery will live in the boot of the sidecar, i'll have to do some research on the bikes charging capacity, thanks again

Hey Jules
For a car size battery I recommend Optima Batteries (which I use in my ... car).

The Red Top type has 55 Ah but the crank power equals a battery twice the size, especially when really cold.
It also is very vibration resistant.

If you want to spend less buy the cheapest small car battery you can get with a 2 year warranty, and replace it now and then ...

Thanks Andy,
I've bought myself a Yuasa 50aph with a 5 year warranty, lets hope it lasts that long :-)

Let's hope it won't 'cause only then you'll get a second one for free...

... presumed you'll manage riding back home again with that broken battery and then will be able to find that bloody bill. :weg:
