So geht das

While following the instructions for rebuilding Goldwing carbs on the Randakk website, I came across info for improving off idle response. It instructed to solder closed the pilot air jet and redrill it to a smaller opening. It sounded easy enough. It took me a few tries to locate a #62 micro drill bit, finally found one at a model train type hobbyshop. I was a little concerned with getting solder on the outside threads so I went over to my brother’s jewelry store to do it in his shop. When I explained why I was there one of the jewelry makers grabbed the jets and bit away from me and said he knew a better way to proceed. He took a length of 14 karat gold tubing with an inside diameter smaller than the #62 bit, measured the outside diameter and drilled the jets out to that size. He than inserted a short piece of the tube and laser welded it to the jet under a microscope. Then he drilled away the extra little length on each end and then dressed the screw slot end. Lastly he drilled the inside diameter out with the micro-bit to the new smaller size. "VOILA".only three more to go. .
...guter Deal!
